The Buddha sits in full lotus posture to meditate with right hand in Abhaya Mudra. The palm outward with fingers raised to the sky imparts reassurance and grants fearlessness.
Siddhartha Kshatriya: Gautama was the family name. His mother, Queen Maha Maya (Mydev) and Suddhodana's wife, was a Koliyan princess. Legend has it that, on the night Siddhartha was conceived Queen Maya had a dream that a white elephant with six white tusks entered her right side. Siddhartha was born ten months later.
